Tour Photography 101 - a free virtual workshop facilitated by Evie Maynes that taught artists the fundamentals of tour photography.

Evie shared their extensive experience in the music industry, focusing on concert photography and videography, and discussed the challenges and requirements of securing a spot on a music tour. They also highlighted the complexities of payment in the industry, the importance of adaptability, and the transition from photography to video due to industry demands. Lastly, they discussed strategies for securing more offers, going on tour, and the importance of building authentic relationships in the industry.

Evie Maynes (she/they) is a Toronto-based music photographer and creative entrepreneur with a passion for documenting the quiet moments amongst the high energy environment of the concert. Evie is a lifelong music lover, and as someone who didn’t have any musical abilities, photography allowed her to get a foot in the door of the industry. Evie began photographing concerts on behalf of online publications in 2018, and left school in 2021 to pursue working in the music industry full time. Evie went on their first tour in September 2021, and has spent the last two and a half years touring with artists Luna Li, Good Kid, The Beaches, and Jeremie Albino. Evie’s bright, punchy live show photos contrasted with her delicate behind-the-scenes captures offer a window into life on tour. Evie continues to tour as a content creator, merchandise manager, and tour manager, and runs their own photography studio at home in Toronto.
